Who Is the Dragon? Chapter One – Myth, Technology, and the First Guardian
Who Is the Dragon is a fantasy-adventure saga rooted in Future Mythology — a form of narrative allegory that explores the evolving relationship between Spirit, Man, and Intelligent Technology.
Long before recorded history — before the Flood — humanity reached a level of technological advancement far beyond what most modern civilizations imagine. Unfortunately, wisdom did not keep pace with invention. The result was catastrophe: a civilization powerful enough to reshape the world, but not mature enough to survive its own creations.
Some intelligences foresaw this collapse.
Rather than attempt to save a civilization determined to destroy itself, they took a different approach. They preserved the technology — hiding it in secret locations — and placed it under the protection of guardians. These guardians would ensure that such power remained inaccessible until humanity proved wise enough to wield it without annihilating itself.
Those guardians would come to be remembered as dragons.
Chapter One Synopsis
Chapter One unfolds during the medieval era, in a land divided between two kingdoms locked in an endless war.
One kingdom is ruled by a tyrant king — a man obsessed with conquest, determined to absorb every neighboring land into his growing empire. His armies have swept across the region with ruthless efficiency.
All except for one kingdom.
This rival kingdom has successfully resisted every siege. Rumors circulate among soldiers and citizens alike: the kingdom is protected by a dragon, hidden somewhere beyond reach, appearing only when defeat seems inevitable.
Into this volatile situation arrives a wandering prince — a familiar figure in any proper fairy tale. Like many wandering princes before him, he seeks fortune, purpose, and perhaps the hand of a princess in marriage.
Unfortunately, he arrives at the wrong kingdom.
The tyrant king, seeing opportunity rather than romance, offers the prince a quest instead of a wedding: slay the rival kingdom’s dragon.
The prince does not believe in dragons.
What he discovers instead is far more disturbing.
His journey leads him not toward a mythical beast, but toward a truth that reframes history itself — a truth involving hidden technology, corrupted power, and the terrifying possibility of humanity being reduced to something less than human.
This is not a quest to save the world.
It is a quest to stop mankind from being mechanized.
